About our Training
A positive, practical on-course experience
We deliver training to meet the needs of individuals and of the organisation, and adjust our input, style or content as and when those needs change. We recognise that our subject area can be stressful, and we work in a way that allows people to exchange their personal views and to learn, in a safe and constructive arena.
Tailored Training
Open courses and in-house programmes are constructed around the participants' needs with pre-course questionnaires and scoping mechanisms ensuring case-studies, anecdotes and situations discussed are relevant to those who attend and can immediately be transferred back into the work-place.
Trainers understand the relevant skills staff at different levels feel they already have, where particularly they feel they need support, and what recurring situations they find challenging. All trainers have recent experience as practitioners in the field they are training, and will help support people with practical strategies and real-life examples of what works and what does not.
We use a range of learning activities to accommodate a range of learning styles for example: formal trainer inputs; facilitated group discussion; small group exercises; pair work; self and peer reflection; coaching; metaphor and case studies on all our programmes.
Quality Assurance
We are an accredited provider for OCR and OCN, and also run programmes endorsed by the ILM. Conflict Management Plus Ltd has 17 years of experience in the field. For a full list of pre-course, on-course and post-course quality assurance measures, please contact us.
Training which models excellent Dignity at Work practice
When delivering training, our trainers will:
- Create environments, in which participation is encouraged and contributions can be made by all in a safe manner at the appropriate level for them
- Provide a variety of inputs introducing key concepts, stimulating discussion and providing a platform for skill enhancement
- Set up practical exercises through which participants can learn and practise new skills
- Model and demonstrate all the skills being learned
- Establish criteria for achievement, helping participants set personal goals and strategies to apply in role plays and simulations
- Develop a framework for constructive feedback and provide coaching, one-to-one support and peer support where necessary
- Encourage incremental learning - delivering content, and creating practical exercises which become incrementally more challenging to enable participants to reach a high level of achievement
Trainers when delivering programmes are required to:
- Ensure their language and material does not include stereotyping of any groups
- Seek balanced language, which is not specific to only one sex
- Use positive images of all people, including specifically women, black people, those with disabilities and gay men and lesbian women
- Encourage participation, and challenge oppressive remarks constructively
- Respect the confidentiality of information given by course participants.

All our trainers are aware of the impact of oppression and discrimination on their own thoughts, behaviour and the training experience.
They are particularly knowledgeable about how diversity issues can affect people's willingness and capacity to communicate, respect one another, and manage differences on a training programme.
This gives us the flexibility and credibility to work with all levels of participants, from the most junior to the most senior management. |
