3. The manager series

Managers are expected to develop additional skills and competencies at work. Training in managing conflict is rapidly becoming a necessity.

All these courses are tailored to the participants. Each course can be taken as a stand alone course, or you can use these titles as a menu from which to can create a special programme for your staff. We specialise in tailored in-house programmes.

3.1 Persuasion and influence skills - how to create effective dialogues

3.2 From Argument to Dialogue - half day and 1 day dispute resolution strategy and policy

3.3 Conflict management for managers - 1 day skills. ILM endorsed.

3.4 Managing employee relationships effectively - 3 day policy, practice and skills

3.5 Mediation for managers - 3 day skills and strategy, based on the book by John Crawley and Katherine Graham. ILM endorsed.

3.6 Investigation skills for managers - 2 and 3 day support on skills, process and work-place implementation of effective investigation. ILM endorsed.

Research by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in 2004 found that managing conflict at work, including disciplinary and grievance cases and preparing for employment tribunals, costs the average employer nearly 450 days of management time every year - equivalent to the time of two full-time managers - which does not take into account the significant associated costs of mismanaged conflict at work, including lost productivity, sickness absence and higher than expected turnover of employees.
